Company Profile
Atlantic Composites is the brain-child of Donegal-based Timmy Boyle and Ivan Irwin.
Both men were involved in the 2006 Round Ireland Swim and during this expedition, they identified a huge gap in the market for purpose built RIBs (Rigid Inflatable Boats).
The design is a result of strenuous sea trials off the west coast of Ireland. Using the data obtained during these trials the Atlantic Rib was subsequently designed and manufactured.
To ensure that their craft can stand up to expert's scrutiny they enlisted the services of Kobus Potgeiter, Naval Architect, to design their craft. Kobus is a renowned naval architect with many years experience and has been designing RIBs for many internationally renowned companies such as Zodiac International.
The other unique aspect to Atlantic Composites’ RIBs is that they use a new technology called Vacuum Infusion. This is a high-tech controlled process and Atlantic Composites are one of the few boat manufacturing companies in Europe using VIP as their main manufacturing process.
Atlantic Composites, are however, the only company in Ireland using this process as a sole manufacturing method. The finished quality is excellent and can be repeated exponentially.
Directors Profile:
Timothy Boyle has spent most of his working life in Management, working for an electrical manufacturing company. He held several positions within this company as Quality Manager, Production Manager and HR Manager. He has also managed his own company for many years prior to setting up Atlantic Composites. Timothy is a qualified Electrical Engineering Fitter and also holds a degree in Industrial Electronics.
Ivan Irwin had been working as a Technical Manager with a computer manufacturing company prior to setting up his own company - Northwest Power Sports. Ivan has many years experience in the repair and maintenance of marine craft and has held a successful dealership for Suzuki and Yamaha. Ivan holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering and also a Masters Degree in Business.
Marine Background of Promoters:
Ivan’s previous business, Northwest Power Sports, sells and services all types of marine craft and equipment. His customers include the IRCG, the Gardai, the Fisheries Board and nationwide sub-aqua clubs.
Both Timothy and Ivan have extensive experience in the marine industry and both men are monitor 2* diving instructors.
